I had the pleasure of being involved in Home Tapes, alongside the incredible Peter Broderick and Douglas Dare, created for the Soundworlds podcast. Soundworlds can best be described as sonic theatre, and is the brainchild of the incredibly talented director, dramaturg and all-round wonderful human, Patrick Eakin Young. I think he’s created something really special and I thoroughly recommend all the pieces in the season.
My piece, Two Different Skies, is a series of vignettes inspired by my life in Perth and Liverpool, two cities which are simultaneously my home and not my home, albeit for different reasons. This was my first time working with my own text and my own voice in my music, which was simultaneously intimidating and invigorating, and something I hope to continue to experiment with.
